I will be spending time with 3 different CPN’s based in the same office. I will mainly be with the primary under 65 however.
Having gained almost all of my knowledge about CPN’s from this site (ha), I was expecting even better treatment that I have previously had in ward based placements, the truth, however, was not comparable.
In the entire week I have been there……prepare yourself, the following story is not nice.
I have only had 3 cups of tea! 1 was a herbal tea from a lovely lady we visited and the other 2 I made myself. I was left in the office when my mentors visits did not wish a student present.
Not a single biscuit of any kind to be seen anywhere. Not even a rich tea!
How am I supposed to grow and develop in such a harsh environment?
I am self-referring for some 1:1 counselling very shortly.
Mental Nurse website, you are misleading and further action may be taken.

You drank HERBAL tea????? What kind of hippy bollocks is that? You should be drinking proper tea with enough caffeine to fuel a cruise missile, drank out of a tannin-encrusted mug. Honestly, is this what they’re teaching at universities these days?

It’s all I was offered!!
However, whilst studying for my high falootin degree, we did a comparison paper on the clinical effectiveness of memory impairment by comparison of english breakfast tea v twinings herbal peppermint.
This study took 6 months, with 7 students at a cost to the taxpayer of £12,500.
The results were inconclusive.
You can read the abstract here: http://www.nursingteaandbiscuits.org.uk

Mr Ian
I might do a research paper on that. not the tea thingy … this:
Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 1,460 for “the results were inconclusive” “mental health”
against:
Personalized Results 1 - 10 of about 133 for “the results were conclusive” “mental health”

Mr Ian
Your search - “the results were a load of meaningless shit” “mental health” - did not match any documents.
I need to contest this search too.

They might be waiting for you to
a) make the tea for them
b) bring them biscuits as a present

I have to say, my placement is in a private home, and while the biscuit situation is a little poor I am practically drowning in tea…and I get a free lunch every day! Am thinking seriously about my future in the NHS….

Absolutely!
Herbal tea, no biccies? Y’know, we get out pink forms and detain folk for spouting such bizarre otherworldly fiction . . .
