The Return of Check Shirt Man

As we’ve commented upon before, the BBC News website regularly use the same photo to illustrate mental health issues. Every time, it’s the same guy in the check shirt.

Today, Check Shirt Man is back again.

Mental Nurse would like to wish our best regards to Check Shirt Man, and express our hope that one day he may finally succeed in unglueing his hand from his forehead.

HAha I had a few laughs at the caption contest you held in the last post about Check Shirt Man. The paranoid reference by dazedandconfused was the coolest one.

So, did you name him Jed after all?

Perhaps we could turn it into a caption competition:

“Fuck, that twat Crippen has just backed his Bentley into my car!”

Continuing with E’s idea of turning it into a caption competition I think its the look most of us get when Dr C starts a nurse quactitioner rant

Erm, isn’t that what we did the first time round?

Though if anyone wants to think up more captions for Check Shirt Jed, feel free to do so.

Jed thought, ‘the next picture the BBC take of me will be a broken window with my bloody corpse lying underneath!’

He had forgotten they were only on the ground floor.

I can’t believe they have used it again! They must surely have another picture to represent mental illness… should I go out and buy a checked shirt just in case I suffer a relapse and need to be appropriately attired?

Ok sorry forgot we had done the caption thing. How about doing one of those things when you write a sentence or two then someone else carries it on and you see where it ends up. Here’s my opening salvo.

Unable to bear the sexual tension a moment longer, Zarathustra looked quickly away as Dr Crippen pranced gaily around the living room dressed only in 9” stilettos, crotch less panties, a PVC Basque, and a leather gimp mask.

“Oh did you have to, and tonight of all nights” murmured Zarathustra into a night heavy with the scent of Jasmine……………………………..

Ok your turn

I refuse to continue E’s story. It really is far too disturbing.

I would like to add that the BBC have obviously been following Jed throughout his life as this earlier picture shows.

Evidently, his hand has been there for some time, and his shirt must have grown with him.

Check Suits eh? Weren’t they semi fashionable around the 70;s? I remember Noddy Holder from Slade wearing one.

Is the photograph that old?

And let us not forget the MH slogan of the 21st century. Nobody Stops A Service User In A Suit. Ha! Apart from it being totally derisive. I wonder quite what they would be stopped from doing. Ho hum
