Have you ever thought of a career in the travel industry? Travel industry can be categorized into four categories, namely; travel by road, travel by railway, travel by water and lastly travel by air. In all the four categories there are massive career opportunities both directly and indirectly. The travel industry can also be further be categorized into two major groups, namely; local travel and international travel, thus further increasing the career opportunities within the travel industry.

Direct career opportunities in travel industry include vehicle drivers, conductors, train drivers, train driver assistants, ship captain & assistant ship captain, pilot & co-pilot, air hostess, tour guide, driver guide, site guide, local guide, tour manager, tour director, travel supervisor, booking officers, receptionists, accountants, finance managers, economists, receptionists, security officers, automotive dealers, mechanics, automotive engineers among many other jobs that are available at the many companies and organizations offering transportation services.

Apart from direct career opportunities offered by travel industry, there are so many other indirect opportunities associated with travel industry. The opportunities involve all the personnel involved in preparation of necessary documents that can facilitate movement of people internationally, for example, the officers involved in processing UK passport applications. These people entail all officers working at immigration office ranging from security guards, administrative assistants, IT officers, all the way to the directors and even the minister in charge of immigrations and foreign affairs.

Other opportunities related to travel industry include weather forecasting and monitoring departments which monitors and informs the air travels and sea travels on the weather conditions at the sea as well as the current atmospheric conditions, to ensure safety of people traveling by air and those traveling by water.

Other organization opportunities that are indirectly linked to travel industry include the Revenue Authorities that inspects and certifies all commodities received in the country either by road, by air or by water.

Traffic officers, the navy, marine officers, air force and all other parties involved in ensuring safety of people traveling, including nongovernmental organization officials involved in the rescue of victims of accident during their traveling mission.

Tourism industry is also closely related to travel industry to an extend that one cannot do without another. At such travel industry facilitates and creates most of the career opportunities found in tourism industry. The indirect career opportunities may include tour guides, hotel and restaurant assistants, and wildlife officers among many other opportunities associated with tourism.

Travel agents that negotiate for the cost and other requirement of traveling on behalf of travel companies also form important part of travel industry. Public relations officers who have the ability to talk to potential customers and convince them to use the facilities of any given company in travel industry and the marketers who popularize the services of a transportation company also form part of important careers in the travel industry.

In conclusion, travel industry is a very wide field that is related to many other industries that are also wide. Therefore, the industry offers a wide range of career opportunities both directly and indirectly that cannot be exhausted.

If as a person you feel that you can be of help to people suffering from mental disabilities, you can surely pursue a diploma, degree or a certification in psychiatric nursing. A course in this filed provides you ample training in various ways to handle the mental patients, assisting them and even counseling them.

Psychiatric nurse courses:

There are many courses for psychiatric nursing available in medical schools. You will have to get official approval in order to become a registered nurse in this particular field. Some medical schools also offer higher education in this field.

Two levels of education are available in this particular field:

Basic Level course:

At this level, a student learns about different ways to relate with the patients suffering from the mental disorders. Students get training in diagnosing the mental disabilities and different ways to take care of patients. Students are awarded diploma, certificate or degree on successful completion of the course.

Advanced Level course:

Students learn about the complexities of various mental disabilities and way to deal with such patients. They have options to opt for special courses that teach evaluation, diagnosis and ways to treat patients having mental disorders.

The psychiatric nurse also learns of ways to diagnose the causes of mental disabilities and they get training to deal with the families of patients. This education level provides masters degree in the psychiatric nursing.

Duties of a mental health nurse

As this is a vast field and has many areas of specialization, and mental health nurse should know of this aspect in detail. The mental health conditions in individuals vary from mild in some cases to highly complex in others.
Depending upon the area in which you have specialized, you will have to deal with every type of patient depending upon their condition.

A mental health nurse has following duties:

- Educating, informing and counseling the relatives and families about all the issues concerning mental health.

- The psychiatric nurse can be asked to work as a consultant in case any person is suffering from some sort of mental disorder.

- Ensuring some sort of treatment plan for the patient and following it up till successful completion.

- Managing the condition of patients till their complete recovery.

- Providing their assessment on all those who are suffering from various mental problems.

- Providing some emergency care and psychiatric services to patients.
