Thanks Mr Ian! I’m not really sure how the interview went. Everything (the numercy/reading comp tests and group discussion) went well right up until the one on one interview. I think I got a tad too nervous and made an idiot of myself. But hopefully they will see through the overly wobbly voice and take note of the answers I gave…
To answer your question….Clinical psych is one of the first things to enter my mind towards the end of my course as the next step forward. I had the opportunities to apply for masters courses and even had a couple of phd ideas thrown my way. I do realise that work experience in the field would have also come with these pathways. However, i didn’t feel (and was informed) that they would be as intensive as I would have liked. I learn better when I am “out there and doing it” and therefore a more vocational course is what I feel I am suited to the best. Some will say that I probably made a mistake doing the BSc Psychology in the first place then, as you can go straight into MH nursing from college. Now, I am inclined to agree and wish that I had have done that. However, at the time of finishing my A Levels I have a very different vision of where I wanted to be upon finishing uni the first time round, and felt that Psychology would have worked best for me.
Eventually, my goal is to be a HE lecturer (I worked as a teaching assistant at my old university once i’d graduated and got a taste for it). However, I am in no real hurry to get there…I do want to continue my education though as I don’t feel I am quite done yet. However, I also want to gain some real experience in my chosen field (something I don’t have a substantial amount of at the moment), and get something out of it at the end. I guess that’s why I chose to go down the nursing route. I want to be in the thick of it rather than sit in a room for another x amount of years getting stressed out over a thesis.
That was a tad longer than I expected, sorry. Hehe

Hi I was in the same possition ayear ago. They know who they are looking for. It was the worst interview I had ever given, but I got the job.
They basically want to know what you have to offer. Give you an idea of the job which sounds scary. And you have to sell yourself. Give an idea on how you would deal with different situations, someone being highly depressed. If you saw someone having ago at someone else, how you would cope in a volatile situation.
Staff are very helpful where i work and they don`t mind what you ask know matter how daft it sounds.
good luck
