TWIM is 60 today, and wants its pension. Congratulations to Yorkie, who wins this week’s caption competition with “Bonus course available: A med free approach to restraints. Developing the Vulcan neck pinch.” Time now for This Week in Mentalists. For those of you who have nothing to read, here’s the new edition of This Week in Mentalists. I’ve been doing This Week in Mentalists, our weekly round-up of mental health blogging, for just over a year now. For that reason, I think it’s now time to do an Actual Proper Award Ceremony, with Actual Proper Awards and stuff. Well, when I say “Actual Proper Award Ceremony”, I mean “a blog post”. And when I say “Actual Proper Awards” I mean kudos and praise from me. I suppose I could put something together with papier mache and spit if you lot really want me to. So, anyway, as a result of all the TWIM posts I’ve been doing over the past year, here is my little awards post of the blogs that have impressed me the most in 2008. This week in our round-up of writing from the mental health blogosphere: crisis plans, the concept of reasonable adjustment, some body bullying and an update of the Devil’s Dictionary. It’s the first weekend of December, so here’s a Christmas-themed edition of This Week in Mentalists, so get you all in the spirit of the season. This post will be as Christmassy as mince pies, reindeer and the entire Woolworths chain going completely down the shitter. Time for This Week in Mentalists. In today’s edition we have seasonal moods, the fallacies of purging, hugging aspies and prescription drug abuse. This week we have posts on targets, purging, how not to do restraint and how not to do teamworking. Plus a couple of TV reviews. The mental health blogosphere seems particularly exercised by dead babies and TV shows this week. Since the whole world seems to be talking about this week’s victory of Messiah Bloke over Uncle Fester and the Batshit Crazy Moose-Shooting Lady, I’m going to include a special This Week in Mentalists supplement, looking at how the mentalist blogosphere has been reacting to the news. Here is the latest edition of This Week in Mentalists, which has been fuelled by pate on toast. Today’s TWIM is a long one. Possibly the longest I’ve ever done. Enjoy. This Week in Mentalists is a day late. I fail. Happy Valentines Day, you lot! Time for This Week in Mentalists. No pate on toast to fuel me through compiling TWIM this week. This time it was courtesy of some fancy cheese I bought at the local farmers market. It’s got nettles in it. Yes, nettles. Anyway, here’s what’s been happening this week in the mental health blogosphere. |
