A debate has been raging over at NHS blog Doctor on the question of home deliveries and independent midwives or “madwives” as some like them to be known. So far the number of comments is at 187 but the steam appears to be going out of the debate so they might not reach the 200 unless Dr C can dig up some more shit on the Independent Midwives of Kent to fuel the debate. The debate has of course degenerated into a slanging match between the “We all have the right to go to hell in the manner of our own choosing nah nah nah can’t hear you” brigade and the “Doctor knows best you are a fucking brainless numpty and only we are clever enough to read scientific papers and punctuate correctly” brigade on the other with the occasional offering from the “We are not all stupid and some of us know how to punctuate and spell desiccated as well as practice safely” brigade occasionally putting their heads above the parapet.

- Kittyxxx121 : In reality EN's used to do the same jobs as junior staff nurses CD, there was no scope for promotion. Before AfC they still used to do meds rounds, ward rounds would even be left in charge of a ward if short staffed. however they only usedto get C grade, bloody disgusting i think. Thankfully that's all gone now.
