This Week in Mentalists (The Chaotic Foot Edition)

Hello! LittleFeet from Chaos and Control (*ahem* shameless plug) here.

My thanks go to Z for inviting me to round up This Week in Mentalists. Of late I’ve been feeling a little down in the dumps. I know it sounds silly but making a commitment to undertake TWIM has given me something positive to focus on. As a long-term lurker on Mental Nurse I’m feeling incredibly privileged to be doing the round up this week.

Without further ado, let’s start the ball rolling…

This Week in Mentalists: The Delayed-By-The-Real-World Edition

Apologies for the fact that TWIM is a day late. I forgot to allocate somebody to do it in time. And as for doing it myself…well, I was at a Place doing a Thing.

What sort of thing?

This Week in Mentalists: Would You Like some Fries with your Aspergers?

Hi, Kankurette here. I’m feeling a bit drained due to not having any rest today, so sorry if things are a bit brief, but I was asked to do TWIM this week, so: here you go. Due to being a Pie of Ass, I’m going to include a few Aspergers blogs.

This Week in Mentalists (Lazy Sunday Edition)

A slightly delayed TWIM, which I’ve typed up while having my Sunday lie-in.

Enjoy.

This Week in Mentalists: The Big (Society) BPD Huggin’ Love-In Edition

¡Hola amigos!  ’Tis Pandora, returned narcissistically for a second edition of TWIM.  I knew my megalomaniacal bribing of Z would result in a return to TWIM dominance before you could all say “who’s afraid of a Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Version Four, Text Revision“.

Beware possible triggers (disordered eating, self-harm and suicide references).

This Week in Mentalists: Raoul Moat Will Blow You Away Edition

Despite the considerable debate taking place on the Raoul Moat post (a revised version of which is now up on Red Hot Liberal-on-Liberal Action), I’d just like to say that we will not be hosting any of the Raoul Moat jokes that are currently all over Facebook. It’s in bad taste and they’re not funny.

Not re-moat-ley funny.

This Week In Mentalists – World Cup Final Distraction Edition

[This week's TWIM is brought to you by A Mental aka Bippidee]

‘Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!
Fremde, etranger, stranger.
Gluklich zu sehen, je suis enchante,
Happy to see you, bleibe, reste, stay!’

Nobody is allowed to mention that neither of the World Cup finalists speak any of the above languages.

So, my first ever TWIM – how exciting! Please forgive any cock ups, of which there will undoubtedly be many…

This Week in Mentalists – Budgetpocalypse Edition

As the news from the proposed budget cuts just gets worse and worse, let’s batten down our hatches, put aside the fears of lost jobs and double-dip recessions for a short while, and distract ourselves with a TWIM.

This Week In Mentalists: The “I wrote this instead of watching the football” edition

It’s me, Writing in the Margins of My Mind, this week! Here’s a TWIM especially for anyone who is to busy being a mentalist or dealing with them to be paying that much attention to the World Cup. The rest of you can read it too (after the game).

This Week in Mentalists - The iPad Verbosity Incompatibility Edition

Coo-ee!  Guess who.  It’s Pandora, your multiply-diagnosed neighbourhood insomniac, very excited to be here for one week only (unless Z decides to indulge my megolamania again in the future) to feed you your regular dose of TWIM.  For the record, as well as blogs that you’re probably very familiar with, I’m bringing in a few that I read regularly that have not (to my knowledge) been featured here before.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.  Most of all I hope that no one here in the madosphere is typing on that most pointless of devices, the Apple iPad (or iTampon, as it became affectionately known on Twitter).  What in the name of God is the function of a giant iPhone without a phone? Perhaps more pertinently, can something as silly as the iPad cope with the verbosity and long-windedness of yours truly? I shall let you, dearest readers, determine that…

Indeed, as any of you who read my blog will know, I talk far too much and don’t shy away from “difficult” subjects (nor…ahem…colourful language), so you may find this TWIM to be rather long and, more importantly, there are some potential triggers in some of these posts (there are extracts here on suicide, self-harm and child sexual abuse).  So please proceed with caution, my darlings, just in case.  And if you hate my contribution to TWIM please be kind and bitch about it behind my back rather than to my face, because you wouldn’t want to make me cry.  Would you?

This Week In Mentalists: The Deja Vu Edition

Isn’t it all a bit familiar? Another bloody cloud of volcanic ash?!

Hello! Seaneen here from The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive Borderline Personality Disordered Is She Just a Bit, y’know? blog taking a break from retching at the rash of Clegg-Cameron slash that has infected the internet to bring you This Week in Mentalists!  It will have to be a quickie because I have NHS resources to waste.

This Week in Mentalists: Scabrous Edition

Apparently our friend Professor Andrew Samuels has started referring to Mental Nurse as “scabrous”. This shall therefore be my word of the day.

And now, a look at the best of mental health blogging over the past week:

This Week in Mentalists: The Bored-With-the-Election Edition

Right, I’m bored with the election for the time being. Brown’s still wooden. Cameron’s still a smarmy git. I’m not sure at the moment whether Nick Clegg is Churchill or Hitler, as I forget which tabloid I’ve read most recently.

So, let’s (briefly) forget all that and have a TWIM.

This Week In The Mentalists - Volcanic Ash Edition

Surprise! It’s Lola! Bet you didn’t expect to see me here! I should point out to you all, that I was asked to do this. I have not just broken into Mental Nurse HQ and taken over. Zed and the Gang are safe and well. They’re lounging about out in the garden with icy bottles of Corona, not tied up in the basement in a clever home-made web of shoelaces and elastic bands.

I am sad to announce that there is a very high chance this could be the last ever edition of TWIM. Apparently there is a cloud of Volcanic ash lingering over the UK, which on further investigation (By Yours Truly) looks like it could well be a government conspiracy. Aforementioned cloud is in fact a blatant lie! A lie to cover up the sudden arrival of a hostile alien spaceship. We’re all going to die horribly and be eaten by six headed monsters. Anyways, before we all get eaten alive, which is probably going to happen around 6pm on Sunday*, please enjoy one last edition of TWIM. I noticed it’s customary to do some form of clever theme, or link between posts. I tried but got a bit confused. Perhaps this weeks theme could be identity confusion?

This Week In Mentalists: The Last Minute Cancellation Edition

This Week In Mentalists is brought to you this week by a Mental Nurse who has a toddler screaming in his ear. This weeks posts are delivered in the order Google Reader spewed them out at me.

… my Crazy Bipolar Life… has finally done it.

You might remember I had arranged to get my care team together so that I could give them a little presentation all about my mental health last month. [snip] The three professionals all looked quite relaxed as they are used to hearing these things, but my parents had a mix of confusion, shock and sadness written across their faces. My Dad, well I have never seen him so quiet, he really didn’t seem to know what to say or think or feel. I guess he looked uncomfortable, like he was hearing things that were completely out of his depth, and I think part of this was because for the first time he was hearing the REAL truth, the actual REALITY of how bad things can get for me. It seemed to sadden him quite a lot, I guess it must be really difficult for a parent to hear those things about their child.

MCBL has provided a YouTube video of the slideshow.
